OPEN CALL – Call for WOSM Volunteers, February 2021

The European Scout Region of the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM) is pleased to share with you this Call for Volunteers for two different profiles.

Please read both calls carefully and share them widely within your National Scout Organisation or National Scout Association (NSO/NSA) with those who might be interested in one of the positions and fit with the profile we are looking for.

The deadline for declaring your interest by completing the application form is 21 March 2021.
Young External RepresentativesThe External Representatives of the European Scout Region are the voice of Scouting towards European Institutions and partners. Their mission is to advocate for the needs of Scouting and Young People in Europe in line with WOSM positions.

As a part of the continuous renewal of the external representatives’ team, we are looking for 1 or 2 new volunteers with the following profile:

  • interested in defending the rights of young people to participate and/or in the European Institutions
  • between 18 to 25 years old
  • Confident (or eager to learn) in public speaking and in contact with decision-makers
  • Fluent spoken and written English
  • Be a WOSM member* (* as per the European Scout Committee position on non-WOSM members’ regional involvement, female members from “traditional” SAGNOs having their male members registered with WOSM and female members registered with WAGGGS are not eligible)

The role requires availability during weekdays as the events to be covered are set by the agendas of European institutions and external partners. At the moment, all the meetings are taking place online but once travel is viable again to face to face meeting, the travel expenses are reimbursed.

The duration of the mandate is initially until December 2022. We aim to recruit representatives who would be available even beyond the current triennium to ensure a good continuity of external presence.

We invite all NSO/NSAs to disseminate this call and particularly encourage young people with diverse profiles to apply to this exciting volunteering experience which offers great personal growth opportunities. The newly recruited external representative will join a dynamic and fun young team, with peer-to-peer mentorship, allowing the transition of knowledge and competences needed for representing the Scout Movement.

Experts in the Area of FundraisingThe current health crisis has impacted the funding capacity and sources of income of many NSO/NSAs in the European Scout Region. With an overall aim to continue supporting NSO/NSAs in strengthening their fundraising capacity and diversifying their income, the European Scout Region is looking for two experts ready to support upcoming service requests.

We are looking for experts who have experience and expertise in one of the following areas of income diversification and fundraising:

  • Corporate partnerships
  • Campaigns for individual donations
  • Major donor management
  • Business development and income generating activities

The experts should be able to deliver support in English. The services requested can be of different nature (training, review of strategy, …) based on the NSOs’ needs and requested via the WOSM service platform.

The newly recruited experts will be on-boarded within the WOSM Consultants framework and will be trained online on WOSM essentials and consultancy skills with an opportunity to collaborate (in pairs) with WOSM’s current consultants over specific NSO/NSAs requests.
