About Us

The World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) and the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM) are the two global organisations representing over 50 million Guides and Scouts around the World.

At European level, Europe Region WAGGGS and the European Scout Region of WOSM represent over 2 million Guides and Scouts in 46 European countries.

We work closely together on areas of common interest, in the following ways:

Every three years, the European Guide and Scout Conference takes place, where delegates from Guide and Scout associations from across Europe meet together to discuss issues of mutual interest and approve the areas of joint action for the next triennium.

Joint meetings of the Europe Committee WAGGGS and the European Scout Committee of WOSM are normally held twice a year to co-ordinate joint actions on priority areas for Scouting and Guiding in Europe.

Joint activities – such as network meeting, seminars, workshops and training events are organised regularly to support the development of Guiding and Scouting in Europe. Scout and Guide Associations use these events to share experiences, learn from each other and develop partnerships.

We plan and deliver international activities for young people, such as Roverway. This event brings together around 4000 Scouts and Guides aged 16-22 (so-called Rangers and Rovers) from across Europe and gives them opportunities to experience challenge and adventure, to learn about other cultures and celebrate diversity.

Networks

The Partnerships Network

The Partnerships Network is a coalition of Scout and Guide associations, which aims at fostering, strengthening and developing partnerships between associations in Europe and associations from other WOSM and WAGGGS Regions of the world.

The overall idea of the Network is to share and create information about ongoing partnerships, as well as to provide a platform for the exchange of experiences and knowledge.

A continuing reflection on the relevance of partnerships, as well as the promotion of intercultural understanding and mutual respect are central elements of the Partnership Network.

Go Scout and Guide Abroad

The 15th European Guide and Scout Conference set up a Joint Working Group to improve the EraGuide/EraScout Network. This Network aims to support the inclusion of young people and Youth Leaders into local Scout and Guide Groups during their international mobility experience.

In 2018, the Go Scout and Guide Abroad Team (the name the Joint Working Group had by then chosen for the project) developed materials to be used by International teams and participants in mobility programmes. This aim is to increase interest in Scout and Guide mobility throughout Europe, and to make communication between the sending and receiving Member Organizations of WAGGGS and WOSM easier.
