Call for bids to host Roverway 2024

The European Scout Region of the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM) and the Europe Region WAGGGS are pleased to launch the Call for Bids to Host Roverway 2024. The deadline for submitting your bid is 30 June 2021.

Background
Roverway is the major European event for young people aged 16-22 and has proved a great success in its first six editions: “People in Motion”, Portugal 2003; “Dare to Share”, Italy 2006; “Open Up”, Iceland 2009; “See, Feel, Follow”, Finland 2012; “On the road”, France 2016; and “Opposites Attract”, Netherlands 2018.

Current Situation
As communicated through our Joint Communication 10/2018, the European Scout Committee and the Europe Committee WAGGGS, have agreed to stage the following edition of Roverway in 2024.

Certainly, this next edition will be a very special one as it follows a worldwide health crisis that obliged us to cancel all our in-person activities and “re-start” with new health and safety measures. We were impressed to see how so many organisations led the way last summer and supported their leaders to offer summer camps to their members. We look forward with confidence to this opportunity to provide   young people the space to share their own views and dreams, to discover other people’s ways of life, to build things together, to try new skills and to live adventures in a small international community.

Call
With this message, we launch the call to ask WAGGGS Member Organisations and/or WOSM National Scout Organisations to host Roverway in 2024.

  • The Roverway Guidelines outline the essential organisational information needed for potential hosts.
  • The candidature document should include all information considered relevant for the consideration of the Joint Committee. This may include proposals for: motto, main educational activities and experiences, venue, dates, motivation, etc.
  • Though 2024 is still a long time away, many people and associations are still likely to be affected by the economic downturn from the current pandemic. Therefore, a concept focusing on simplicity, affordability and true Scouting and Guiding values is strongly encouraged

Dates
The event is usually scheduled during the second half of July or the first half of August, when most European countries have their school holidays.

Deadline to Receive Bids
The deadline to receive your bid, signed by the International Commissioner(s) and sent by email, to europe@wagggs.org AND europe@scout.orgis 30 June 2021.

All proposals will be considered, and a final decision taken by the Joint Committee in September 2021.
