WAGGGS Europe new Region Treasurer is Evelyn Dick.
Evelyn comes from just outside Edinburgh, in a place called Livingston and is married with two grown up children. She works for a Bank in their Legal Governance & Regulatory Affairs department as a Registrations Manager which means looking after the population of staff who fall under the UK Regulators.
Evelyn is a member of Girlguiding UK and has held a variety of roles – leader, commissioner, treasurer, trainer and tutor. At National level she has also been lead volunteer for membership systems, specialist volunteer for the Digital Strand of the new programme and has sat on the Finance Committee. At European level She was a member of the planning team for Europe’s NLDP in Belgium, I/O ICT Roundtable and has facilitated at The Academy.
We asked Evelyn “why did you want to become Treasurer?” She said “Quite simply I was looking for a new challenge and I just love working with numbers! It was another opportunity to work with my guiding friends in Europe. My view of being a treasurer is someone who understands the risk and governance that goes with managing the money and being able to translate that so others too can understand in a clear and easy way so that decisions can be made. Sometimes it’s not easy but that’s the challenge!”
Evelyn is looking forward to working with everyone over the next three years!
