European Scout Region: Response and Measures Taken in Relation to COVID-19

In January 2020 the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the outbreak of a new coronavirus disease in Hubei Province, China to be a Public Health Emergency of International Concern. At the time, the WHO stated there was a high risk of the 2019 coronavirus disease (COVID-19) spreading to other countries around the world.

During its meeting from 6 to 8 March 2020, the European Scout Committee and the WSB Europe Support Centre assessed the situation on the background of recommendations made by the world level of WOSM, the WHO and a number of public health authorities of European countries.

We recommend that Member Organisations closely monitor the national development in their country and strictly follow relevant guidance or instructions public health authorities may give.

Please refer to WOSM Regional Circular 05 2020 for more details, including, in particular the impact of these measures on regional events and meetings.
