Update WOSM-WAGGGS Joint Work

The European Regional Committee of WAGGGS and WOSM are please to share with you this update on Joint Work.

Over the past weeks, we have seen great initiatives emerge throughout the Region in response to the global health crisis we are all facing. The level of resilience and resourcefulness we have witnessed across Scouts and Guides is truly inspiring. From stay-at-home educational activities to community support actions, Scouts and Guides gracefully rose to the challenge. WOSM just hosted a Special Edition of JOTI  bringing together about 55 000 participants over the weekend. WAGGGS has launched a digital space for their Members for Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting enabling girls and young women to continue to connect and grow during this challenging time.

A full compilation of Home Guiding and Scouting resources will be available under the resources section of WeConnect very soon. In the meantime, check out WOSM’s roundup of NSOs’ best practices here and WAGGGS’ summary of MOs’ initiatives here.

The dedication, commitment and creativity of each other is a real source of inspiration. In these difficult times, we wish to remind you that we are here for any support you might need, through our respective Committee contact systems or our offices. Our teams are there for you!

JOINT COMMITTEE UPDATE

Since our last joint communication, we are delighted to provide you with an update on WOSM and WAGGGS joint work since the adoption of the Final Memorandum of Understanding for the Strategic Partnership between WAGGGS and WOSM at European level (in Split, Croatia – 2019).

In March 2020, the European Scout Committee of WOSM and the Europe Committee WAGGGS had their first in-person meeting in Duisburg, Germany. The Joint Committee shared updates on their respective regional priorities, regional volunteer structures and overlapping areas where collaboration can be considered. The Joint Committee then set the scene on how to work together to implement the adopted MoU. As a result, the Joint Committee:

  • Updated and approved the Terms of Reference of the Coordination Groupand Ways of Working for the Joint Committee;
  • Agreed on a joint work proposed structure, assigning a member from each Committee to ensure oversight (Petra Stipanić and Martin Persson) and confirming the set-up to compose a joint working group to carry the way forward;
  • Defined a way forward for both recommendations;
  • Outlined a plan to review the Roverway Concept and timeline to launch the Call for Bids to host Roverway 2024;
  • Reflected on the review of the different joint events so as to update their objectives and expected outcomes.

The Joint Committee also agreed on the dates of its next in-person meetings on 5-7 March2021 and 4-6 March 2022.
