Update from the joint working groups

The two joint working groups that were announced in the Joint open call are now up and running. We are pleased to share a short introduction to and update on on the work from both groups.

Human Rights and Refugees
Aiming at raising awareness to the best practices of guides and scouts supporting refugees and integrating them in their local groups, the working group on Human rights and Refugees has decided to start its research work moving into two directions. On one side, it is analysing the situation of refugees in Europe to identify the countries where the topic is still very relevant; on the other side, it is analysing the sources of WAGGGS and WOSM to collect all the experiences, gathered until now, of guides and scouts supporting refugees.
The group consists of:
Ilaria Ungaro (Italy), Team lead Claire Maddison (United Kingdom), Andreas Tzekas (Greece), Martin Griwatz (Germany).

Joint Strategic Action Plan
The group has had its initial meetings and is currently in a fact finding and review phase to better understand the current situation and forming a plan for the work. During the coming months the group will look into the strategic partnership between WOSM and WAGGGS in Europe and how this can be strengthened during and beyond this triennium.
The group consists of:
Sander Hurkmans (Netherlands), Team lead Agnieszka Pospiszyl (Poland), Anton Nilsson (Sweden), Ulkar Khanlarova (Azerbaijan), Martin Persson (European Committee WOSM), Agnes Kauer (European Committee WAGGGS).
