UPDATE on the Academies 2020, 2021 and 2022

We are pleased to share with you Joint Communication 06 2020 with more information about the next editions of the Academy. The Academy is a great learning and networking event orgaised by the European Regions of WOSM and WAGGGS. It is also an opportunity for us to place emphasis on sustainability, a priority for Guiding aqnd Scouting in Europe.

Following the Joint Committee meeting on 14 June 2020, the European Regional Committees of WOSM and WAGGGS discussed the way forward for the Academy 2020 and selected a host for the Academy 2021. The host for the Academy 2022 has also been confirmed as a result of the extraordinary circumstances caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Academy 2020

The outbreak of COVID-19 has considerably disrupted our plans and has created uncertainty in many ways and in different areas.

Considering the current situation which we are all facing and after undertaking a risk assessment with the Lietuvos skautija which had been selected to host the Academy in 2020, the Joint Committee has decided to move the event online.

This is an opportunity to explore a different and more flexible format and will almost certainly lead to new perspectives for training and dialogue in the future. You will receive more information soon regarding the dates and other essential details.

Academy 2021

Meanwhile, we are happy to announce that the next 2021 edition of the Academy will be hosted by the Federation of German Guiding and Scouting.

We would like to take the opportunity to thank the other Member Organisations which had applied to host this event. They submitted some attractive proposals which made the selection process a difficult one and we look forward to having them as hosts of future WOSM or WAGGGS events. A Call for partners with details about the exact dates will follow in the near future.

Academy 2022

Considering that the Academy 2020 was originally to be hosted in Lithuania by Lietuvos skautija, we are happy to announce that the Academy 2022 will take place in Lithuania so that participants and delegates can fully experience the host’s hospitality.

We are looking forward to welcoming many participants to these events so that we can spread the Scouting and Guiding spirit even further.
