SUMMARY:Overture Diversity Network meeting 2026
DESCRIPTION:This year\, the 54th Overture Diversity Network Meeting of the European Region of the World Organisation of the Scout Movement (WOSM) and the Europe Region of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) will be hosted by Federazione Italiana dello Scautismo.\n\nThe event will be held in Rome\, Italy\, from 12 to 14 June 2026.\n\n\nAim and objectives\n\nOverture Diversity Network meetings aim to strengthen understanding of diversity and inclusion within the European Scout Region and the Europe Region of WAGGGS\, focusing on key themes to support the delivery of an exciting\, educational programme for participants to learn and enjoy. This is achieved through sharing knowledge and experiences and through plenary sessions that cover essential diversity and inclusion principles across a range of topics detailed in the programme section below.\n\nThe Overture Diversity Network Meeting 2026 programme will be delivered as a combination of plenary sessions and workshops\, with some of the topics being:\n\nUnderstanding dyslexia and inclusive learning practices\nDesigning more inclusive and accessible events\nSupporting refugees and groups in situations of vulnerability\nNeurodiversity in Scouting and Guiding\nReaching children and young people from lower-income areas\nMental health and wellbeing in Scouting and Guiding\n\n\nThe plenary sessions will feature the expertise of staff and volunteers engaged in diversity and inclusion (from WAGGGS\, WOSM\, and other organisations)\, while the hosted workshop sessions will empower participants to craft their own learning experiences.  \n\nWe will host an international evening on Saturday. Participants can bring a sample of items from their country and organisation. Participants can bring posters\, flyers\, badges\, games\, food\, or drinks to show and share.\n\n\nDates and venue\n\nThe meeting will be held at the Roma Scout Centre.\nLargo dello Scautismo\, 1\n00162 Roma RM\, Italy Location: Google Maps\n\nThe meeting will start at 14:00 CEST on Friday\, 12 June 2026. Participants should aim to arrive before 12:00 CEST. The event will close at 12:00 CEST on Sunday\, 14 June 2026.   \n\n\nParticipants’ profile  \n\nThe Overture Diversity Network Meeting is open to representatives of National Scout Organizations (NSOs) and National Scout Associations (NSAs) of the European Scout Region of the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM)\, and representatives of Member Organisations (MOs) and Component Associations (CAs) of the Europe Region of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS).\n\nParticipants should be familiar with Diversity and Inclusion\, and how it can be implemented within their organisation. They should also be eager to learn\, share experiences and be open to different ways of Scouting and Guiding. \n\nPrevious participants of the Overture Diversity Network Meetings are welcome to apply to participate again.\n\n\nLanguage\n\nTo facilitate all participant exchanges\, the working language of the Overture Diversity Network Meeting is English. Being able to communicate in English is essential to participation.\n\n\nParticipation fee \n\nThis event follows the WOSM NSO event fee category by country.\n\n\nCategory A: 150 EUR\n\n[Cat. A = Republic of Moldova]\nCategory B = 160 EUR\n[Cat. B = Armenia\, Azerbaijan\, Belarus\, Bosnia and Herzegovina\, Bulgaria\, Georgia\, Montenegro\, North Macedonia\, Romania\, Russia\, Serbia\, Türkiye\, Ukraine]\nCategory C: 170 EUR\n[Cat. C = Albania\, Croatia\, Czechia\, Estonia\, Hungary\, Latvia\, Lithuania\, Poland\, Slovakia]\nCategory D: 180 EUR\n[Cat. D = All other countries not specified above in the WOSM European Region]\n\n\nThis will cover accommodation\, meals\, coffee breaks\, the programme\, and venue facilities.\nPayment details will be sent via email upon registration. Any remaining places will be allocated to ensure regional diversity.\n\nIf an NSO\, NSA\, MO\, or CA is endorsing more than two participants\, please let the planning team know in the endorsement letters or by email the names of the preferred participants for the two guaranteed places.\n\nConfirmed participants will receive a confirmation email and an information letter. Application results will be communicated by 12 May 2026. Please wait until we confirm your participation before booking your travel.\n\n\nVisa and travel arrangements\n\nPlease check your visa requirements before booking your travel. Italy is part of the Schengen Area. A valid ID or travel document is required. DESCRIPTION:Climate change is one of the defining challenges of our generation. Across Europe\, young people are not only experiencing its impacts\, but are also taking action\, developing solutions in their communities\, and finding ways to make their voices heard.\n\nIn Scouting and Guiding\, nature has always been at the heart of our activities\, learning and adventures. This gives us a strong starting point to explore what climate action can look like in practice\, from understanding climate change and its impacts to gaining practical tools\, sharing experiences\, developing local initiatives\, and making our voices heard through advocacy at the national and European levels.\n\nThis session brings young people together to learn from each other\, discover practical approaches\, share ideas and experiences\, and connect with others who are ready to turn their concerns into action.\n\n\n\nWhat to expect?\n\nThe webinar will combine short\, practical inputs with peer-to-peer exchange. You’ll have the opportunity to learn from others\, share your own experience\, and leave with ideas and tools you can use in your own work.\n\nKeynote introduction: A short opening with concrete examples of youth-led climate action and meaningful youth participation across Europe\, setting the scene for the session.\nInteractive breakout sessions: Choose from focused workshops and discussions on practical topics such as using educational badges\, developing local climate initiatives\, and engaging in advocacy at the national and European levels. DESCRIPTION:What is The Academy? \n\nThe Academy is a unique Scout and Guide event that brings together young leaders from across Europe for high-quality training and networking\, focusing on the core priorities of the WOSM and WAGGGS European Regions.  \nThe 2026 edition will blend traditional training with dynamic non-formal learning opportunities. Delivered by over 20 expert facilitators\, it will welcome nearly 200 Scouts and Guides eager to learn\, connect\, and act.  \nThe Academy 2026 is where volunteers and leaders from across Europe come together to build more inclusive\, more resilient\, and more innovative movements – and carry that change home.  \n  \n\nSymbolic Framework \n\nIn times of uncertainty\, it is more important than ever that we celebrate and learn from our differences and continue to join efforts to create a better\, brighter future. This is why the symbolic framework of the Academy 2026 is colours. We invite individuals to understand themselves as unique parts of solutions\, to then take the next step with others towards new ideas and opportunities for positive change\, much like mixing the primary colours creates entirely new and beautiful colours. Unity\, Resilience and Innovation will be the primary colours of our programme\, which we will discover\, use and mix together to gain new knowledge and skills to build a better\, brighter future.  \n \n\nDates and venue \n\nThe Academy will take place at the Heibrand Chirohuis in Westmalle\, Belgium. You can find information about the venue on https://chirohuizen.be/huis/heibrand.  \nParticipants’ accommodation will be provided at the venue\, in shared dormitories.  \nParticipants are expected to arrive on Tuesday\, 3 November 2026\, before 20:00 CET to start the programme (following the provided dinner)\, and depart on Sunday\, 8 November 2026.  \n  \n\nParticipants’ profile   \n\nThe Academy is open to participants who:  \n\nAre aged 18+.\nVolunteer at national\, regional\, or district level in a WAGGGS Member Organisation (Europe Region) or a WOSM National Scout Organization/Association (European Scout Region).\nCan commit to attending the full event and participating actively in all sessions.\n\n    \n\nLanguage  \n\nThe event will be held in English. All participants are requested to be able to communicate effectively in this language.  \n  \n\nParticipation Fee  \n\n\nEUR 430 \n\nThe fee covers accommodation\, meals (from dinner on 3 November to lunch on 8 November)\, coffee/tea breaks\, all session materials and transport from the event entry point to the venue and back. Individual travel costs are not included.  \nReduced youth participant fee  \nThanks to the support of the European Youth Foundation\, we can offer 81 young participants under 30 a reduced participation fee of 150€.  \nIf you are under 30 and would like to be considered for this youth participation fee\, please indicate it in the registration form. This reduced fee will be allocated to ensure the widest diversity and equity in participation in the event.  \nIf you are selected to benefit from this reduced fee\, you will receive a confirmation separately from the confirmation of your participation.  \n  \n\nRegistration  \n\nRegistration is open until 30 September 2026\, and you can register here. You will also find a link on the Academy website soon.  \nBefore registering\, please contact your International Commissioner. Once you submit your application\, we will reach out to them for authorisation.  \nAs the Academy is a highly popular event with limited capacity\, priority will be given to ensure wide diversity. Confirmations will be sent after the registration deadline.  \n  \n\nTravel and visa arrangements \n\nOnce participants have been selected and approved\, they will receive acceptance letters. All participants should then make their own travel arrangements and\, if necessary\, obtain a visa at their own cost. If you require an official letter in support of a visa application\, please contact info@scoutguideacademy.eu or corentin.molders@scout.org  \nPlease be aware that obtaining a visa may take significant time\, so please apply as early as possible.  \nParticipants will receive information on travel to the venue.  \n \n\nInsurance  \n\nThe European Scout Region and the Europe Region of WAGGGS do not cover participants’ insurance for the event or their travel to and from the venue. Please note that it is the exclusive responsibility of the associations to verify that participants are covered by insurance (illness\, accident\, repatriation).  \n  \n\nCancellation policy \n\nThe viability of the event can be affected by both the regulations imposed by the host country’s authorities and those of the sending organisations’ countries.  \nThe European Scout Region and the Europe Region WAGGGS reserve the right to charge the association for any expenses incurred if participants cancel their registration after their participation has been confirmed.  \nIf you decide you cannot take part in the event after submitting your registration\, please inform us by email at info@scoutguideacademy.eu before the registration deadline on 30 September.  \n  \n\nProgramme schedule \n\nParticipants will shape their own learning journey\, choosing from a wide selection of sessions each day covering topics relevant to different roles and needs.  \nThe website will publish an outline programme (September 2026)\, followed by a detailed session catalogue with goals and outcomes (October 2026).  \nBeyond training\, participants will benefit from networking formats and informal opportunities to exchange experiences and best practices.  \n   \n\nVoices of Change Closing Conference \n\nThe Academy 2026 dates have been chosen to coincide with the final conference of the Voices of Change project\, happening in Brussels on 3 November 2026.
