SUMMARY:European Seminar on Growth in Scouting
DESCRIPTION:Growth is a very important and relevant topic for World and European Scouting. It is part of our Regional Scout Plan where we commit ourselves that “by 2019\, there will be a significant increase in the number of members and in the quality of Scouting undertaken in the European Scout Region” and it is part of our contribution to the global vision where we “will actively contribute to the development of World campaigns and initiatives to propose growth of 5% year on year in each and every Member Organisation in Europe”. \nMany Scout associations across Europe are putting tremendous effort into the area of growth: many have achieved remarkable results\, many are just starting and many are desperately looking for solutions and best practices. \nAll European Member Organisations completed the Growth Commitment survey prior to the World Scout Conference in 2017 and this has resulted in renewed interest and commitment to the growth of Scouting in the Region.  \nObjectives \n\nTo provide an understanding of the different approaches to Membership Growth in the context of Scouting\nTo equip leaders with the skills and knowledge needed to develop and manage Growth strategies and respective action plans;\nTo strengthen the capacities of leaders and increase their potential to become active ambassadors for growth of their organisations\, and;\nTo utilise relevant platforms for future support and cooperation\, using WOSM Services with specific tailored support and develop the framework for a “Member Organisations Growth Network”.\n\nProgramme\nThe programme of the event will be spread over four days providing space and the environment for discussions on an understanding of Growth in a Scouting context\, introducing the Organisational Development Approach of the European Scout Region\, developing a common European understanding of Growth based on Vision 2023\, developing Growth Strategies\, developing action plans\, as well as implementing actions\, tools and platforms to support Member Organisation Growth. \nIf participants would like to propose a session on the topic of growth that they would like to deliver during the event\, please fill in the Session template on the following link: https://goo.gl/forms/Cv29re46gMuWsdLv2 \nParticipants’ Profile \n\nMembers or prospective members of national or regional teams which support growth in their association.\n\nParticipants are expected to be able to communicate well in English and should be familiar with the use of electronic communication tools (e.g. email\, skype\, Facebook). \nNumber of Participants \n\nThe event is designed for about 60 – 80 participants.\nRegistration priority is given to have the largest number of different Member Organisations represented.\n\nLanguages\nThe event will be held in English. \nRegistration \n\nAll interested participants can register online by completing the application form.\nOnce someone has completed the form\, the approval of the application will be requested by the International Commissioner (IC) of the respective Member Organisation. A confirmation of the registration will be dispatched upon receipt of approval by the IC. No travel bookings should be made before receiving this confirmation.\n\nThe deadline for submitting applications is 20 April 2019! \nParticipation Fee \n\nAs this is an event supported by the Erasmus+ programme\, the participation fee for participants from partner Member Organisations is 120 EUR. For participants from all other Member Organisations that are not partners in this project\, the participation fee is 380 EUR.\nThe fee covers accommodation in twin rooms\, meals and coffee breaks from dinner on 22 May to lunch on 26 May 2019.
